From High‑Stakes Change to Steady Growth: Strategic Content for Equinox Gold

Equinox Gold and Calibre Mining had been investing in consistent, strategic content for years before their merger. And they chose to keep that momentum rather than start over.
When two major companies merge, someone has to help the combined brand stand out with clarity, confidence, and a cohesive story. That’s where we come in, shaping a cohesive social media strategy and content ecosystem as a long‑term marketing partner.
In 2025, Equinox Gold merged with Calibre Mining, a company we’d been serving as a trusted content partner for two years — from audience research and content strategy through to daily social execution. We already knew Calibre’s audiences, their goals and what their stakeholders cared about. So we had half the story. We got to work learning the Equinox side of the equation fast, and carried everything we already knew straight into the new partnership.
The challenge: help the combined Equinox Gold step into a new identity, without losing the trust either brand had taken years to build — and to keep that trust growing well beyond the merger moment itself.
A Seamless Merger By Design: Transition Support Marketing
Knowing half of the combined brand gave us a head start. But the real work was guiding two distinct brands, two audiences and multiple social channels through a transition that had to go smoothly — and then setting the new brand up for ongoing, long‑term growth.
We quickly built and executed a comprehensive transition playbook: corporate communications, channel migrations and page merges, plus a “welcome” content series to bring both audiences into the new brand.
This included wind-down of the Calibre Facebook and X pages – complete with redirect messaging – along with a successful LinkedIn follower merge and an Instagram rebrand, retaining existing followers wherever platforms allowed rather than starting from zero.
The result was a content program that kept publishing, kept connecting and kept building trust, right through one of the trickiest moments a brand can face:
✅ We preserved audience trust and avoided brand confusion during the transition
✅ We retained and consolidated followers rather than losing momentum
✅ We established a repeatable playbook for future brand or channel changes
Merging Visual Identities: A Refreshed Look for the New Brand
The merger could easily have been disorienting if not visually unified. And the last thing audiences needed was a brand that appeared to be figuring itself out in public.
With this in mind, we built and rolled out a new suite of Equinox-branded social templates so the merged company showed up with a unified, recognizable look.
The result was a brand that looked considered and confident from day one, which was exactly the right signal to send to investors and stakeholders watching closely.
For audiences encountering the new Equinox Gold for the first time, the message was clear: this is a company that knows who it is.
Values, Video and More Faces: Content Strategy for the Merged Brand
The merger created a bigger brand with a broader story to tell. Our job was to make sure that story landed.
Building on the foundation we’d already established, we got to work defining what great content would look like for the combined company.
That meant confirming three main audiences for the new Equinox Gold: investors, community members, and mining-industry stakeholders. Then, three key storytelling pillars to serve them: Sustainable Mining and ESG, Financial Returns and Good Corporate Governance and Respectful Community Relations.
From there, content began rolling out quickly. Milestone storytelling, native video and human-centred posts flourished across channels, complementing investor-targeted updates.
LinkedIn and Facebook emerged as the heaviest hitters for engagement; X naturally evolved into an investor hub; and Instagram became a home for visually rich photos and video.
The Results: Steady, Compounding Growth
From June to November 2025, in the wake of the merger, the combined new social presence delivered consistent, meaningful growth across every major platform.
This growth wasn’t driven by a single announcement or campaign; it reflects a sustained strategy, consistently executed over time across multiple teams and regions.
And the momentum has kept building. As of February 2026, the combined Equinox Gold social presence crossed ✨200,000 total followers,✨ a milestone that reflects not just the scale of the merger, but sustained trust built through consistent, quality content and ongoing strategic guidance.
Beyond the Merger: Ongoing Strategic Guidance
The real story doesn’t end once the channels are merged and the new content and channels are live. Since the merger, we’ve continued to support Equinox Gold as a strategic content partner – reviewing and tweaking performance regularly, refining content pillars and themes, and evolving formats to keep pace with audience needs and platform shifts.
Together, we’ve:
✨ Evolved content pillars to reflect changing ESG, investor, and community priorities
✨ Refined publishing cadence and formats based on performance data and stakeholder feedback
✨ Planned campaigns around key milestones – from site openings to ESG reports
✨ Supported internal teams with workshops, templates, and guidance so content stays consistent, even as it’s created across multiple sites
This kind of ongoing partnership is where we do our best work: pairing strategic clarity with roll‑up‑your‑sleeves execution over time.
A Recent Win: Social Media Training for the Mine Sites
The relationship continues to deepen! Recently we hosted a social media workshop for Equinox’s site-based content teams, who work across North America, spanning sites from Ontario to California and Mexico. The goal was to help each team tell a more cohesive story while speaking authentically to their local communities.
In addition to recommendations on brand voice, best practice, and content strategy, this included supplying a set of ready-to-use design templates for social posts. We were tickled to see that the Valentine Gold Mine team in Newfoundland & Labrador is already putting them to use. It’s a great example of how we don’t just “do content” for Equinox Gold; we help their teams tell stronger, more cohesive stories themselves, too.
Why We Love 'Em
It’s not every day you get to shepherd a company through a watershed moment and come out the other side with an even stronger relationship.
When the merger was announced, Equinox Gold could have brought in a fresh agency to start over. Instead, they leaned on the team that already knew their story, and together we built something better than either brand had before.
If you’re looking for a content partner who can stay with you through big changes, rather than just a one‑off campaign, this is the kind of collaboration we aim to build.
Who this kind of work is for?
- Purpose‑driven brands navigating big changes (mergers, rebrands, expansions)
- Communications and marketing teams who need a strategic partner (and not just a production shop)
- Organizations juggling multiple regions, sites, or stakeholders who all need a cohesive story
We’d love to support you.
