CONTENT STRATEGIST

SERVING PURPOSE-LED BRANDS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Forge & Spark Media, a purpose-led content marketing agency and certified B Corp, is looking to hire an experienced content strategist with a thorough understanding of content marketing and social media. The right person will lead content projects, providing leadership and strategic guidance to clients and our in-house teams. It's a project-based, remote, part-time role with a warm and kind team, based in East Vancouver, BC, Canada. The right person must be a self-starter, client-focused, results-driven, and possess significant experience with content marketing projects in a range of industries and verticals.  

🥇 Part-time: This role is project-based and — depending on how many projects you’d like to tackle — would require from 5 to 25 hours per week

👨🏾‍💻 Remote: We’re based in Vancouver but we’re remote and flex-time. We offer optional opportunities for weekly team meet-ups in Vancouver.

The Role

As the Content Strategist at Forge & Spark, you serve as the client’s partner, and are invested in their success. Supported by a Project Manager, you are effectively the project lead, developing strategy and content that meeting client goals and expectations.

Client Partnership and Communications

You’ll act as the lead strategist on developing content / social marketing strategy, and on ongoing projects, will have regular meetings with assigned clients to review progress and metrics, discuss strategy, and learn about changes to their business, while building trust and solid relationships. 

  • Lead regular, standing calls with clients
  • Build client-specific content strategies, plans and content calendars
  • Work with your PM to assign content development tasks, including design, writing, research
  • Communicate value and progress to clients
  • Work with analysts to review reporting and metrics, communicating findings to client
  • Work with senior leaders in editorial, design, ops to troubleshoot issues with workflow, outcomes, or quality of work
  • Implement and follow-up on relevant client feedback, changes, or direction

Content Marketing Strategy, Research, & Reporting

You will own and direct the content marketing and/or social media marketing for clients you lead. This includes ownership of monthly reporting against KPIs and measuring progress towards key results, and developing content and/or social marketing strategies  that will meet their targeted goals. Working with our Editorial, Creative, and Ops Director team, you develop and periodically refresh client content marketing plans and roadmaps. 

  • Use F&S established processes and templates to develop strategic content marketing roadmaps/strategies for clients
  • Customize the client’s strategic discovery process
  • Lead and participate in brand content audits for the client, and in ‘worthy rivals’ audits
  • Lead discovery / workshop sessions
  • Assist in preparing documentation for client Roadmaps, Strategies, or Plans
  • Work with your PM to set up and optimize a content operations process to deliver on strategic plans including monthly OKR reporting, content planning. 
  • Master keyword research, competitive analysis, content audits, and content calendaring

With strong experience using tools such as Google Analytics, SEMRush, Slack, GDrive, SproutSocial and Asana, you may also contribute to content operations which can include:

  • Developing content or project briefs
  • Creating and/or assigning content 
  • Reviewing and gaining client approvals
  • Revisions
  • Publishing 
  • Promoting/amplifying content 

Your role may also include contributing to content production, according to strategy, including: 

  • Helping to optimize SEO 
  • Creating and/or helping to optimize or edit content items 
  • Editing content
  • Contributing to or advising on content design, look and feel
